How the HVAC list is built

Where does the HVAC history come from?

City and county building permits. Every mechanical permit on a home is matched to its address, so the list knows when the last system went in, what kind it was and which company pulled the permit. Homes with no HVAC permit on record are ranked by their year built.

What does "12 or more years" mean?

Twelve years since the last HVAC permit on the home, or since it was built when no permit is on record. Most systems are replaced somewhere between 12 and 20 years in, so that is where the list starts.

Who is the owner?

The owner on the county's property file, with the mailing address the tax bill goes to. Where the county does not publish owners, the list shows the address and the HVAC history.

How often is it updated?

Monthly. Your list shows the date of its last update, and new permits show up on the next one.
